Réseau Financement Alternatif - Research Department

The Réseau Financement Alternatif's Research department carries out since 2001 studies in the field of ethical and social finance and more particularly in the fields of socially responsible investment (SRI) and financial inclusion (access to basic banking services and socially- responsible credit).

The team comprises multi-field researchers which devote their activities to support and increase responsibility and solidarity in the financial sector.

Réseau Financement Alternatif is recognised as a permanent education organisation by the Belgian French Community.

Financial Inclusion

Mutual Learning on financial inclusion (2008-2009)

Mutual learning project on financial inclusion in Europe. Its objectives: to allow to the participants to exchange interests, needs, questions, experiences and good practices regarding financial inclusion. Outputs: online indicator and best practices databases, 10 workshops, a publication and a final conference on financial inclusion. (www.fininc.eu)

Overview of microcredit in Belgium (2007)

Overview of microcredit in Belgium to apprehend the stakes and challenges of the field.

Fostering Gender Equality: meeting the entrepreneurship and microfinance challenge (in collaboration with the European Microfinance Network) (2007-2008)

Evaluation of pilot projects implemented by microcredit operators in Europe. They are projects concerning gender issues, women entrepreneurship and the way in which microcredit can help them.

Fineurosol - Developing CSR through social finance (in collaboration with Finansol and FEBEA)

Criteria definition that allow to distinguish, on the one hand, solidarity-based products from mainstream products and, on the other, indicators that support a better knowledge of this sector.

Mutual Learning on Standard Budgets (2008-2009)

Study considering the best method to implement in Belgium the tools developed by the NIBUD in the Netherlands, to build standard budgets and to test its effectiveness. This mission will also be carried out in Austria, Bulgaria and Spain in order to check up to what point this practice is or not easily transferable.

Developing common tools for public authorities and financial institutions so as to promote fundamental rights in the European Union (2004-2007)

  • PHASE 1: Partnership analysis between public authorities, financial institutions and social economy organisations to promote fundamental rights in the European Union.
